Summer was a busy season for the PALIMPSEST project! Among our several activities, on July 26th, our Łódź landscape pilot in Poland co-organised a workshop in Abramowski Park, focusing on nature-based solutions for urban water management. The workshop was also part of Łódź’s Birthday celebrations.
Workshop participants worked on the next version of the Łódzki Meander – a prototype, fully natural structure designed to support rainwater retention. The Meander not only helps retain moisture but also strengthens the local ecosystem, protects tree root systems, and contributes to the regeneration of degraded park greenery.
During the workshop, we tested wool for the first time as a construction material, observing how it performs in terms of absorbing and retaining water in urban conditions. The Meander is planned to be installed in the park as an experimental ecological intervention.
This marks another significant step in developing tools that combine environmental care with thoughtful urban design! Stay tuned for more updates on the installation of the Meander in the Abramowski Park!
