On Monday, June 16th, the PALIMPSEST consortium held its second online collaborative workshop with the DAFNE+ research project. This initiative marked an important milestone in fostering synergies between the two projects, united by a shared commitment to knowledge exchange and mutual support.
The workshop focused on exploring how the DAFNE+ platform could be utilized to empower creative professionals—particularly artists and cultural agents—by providing innovative pathways for monetizing their work and ensuring fair compensation for their artistic and creative output.
DAFNE+ is a cutting-edge research initiative dedicated to building a decentralized platform for the fair distribution of creative content. At its core, the project promotes alternative digital distribution models based on blockchain technology and digital tokens, with the aim of strengthening the autonomy of creators and cultural communities.
The session, organized by NOVELCORE, opened with Dimitris Charalampakis, who presented the current state of activities in the pilot projects and outlined PALIMPSEST’s interest in exploring NFT technologies.
Following this, Chema Segovia from CULTURALINK introduced the PALIMPSEST framework, highlighting the role of blockchain technologies in achieving the project’s goal of strengthening payment models for Landscape Services.
Iago Fernández-Cedrón Fernández-Maquieira then presented the capabilities of the DAFNE+ platform and how its infrastructure could respond to the specific needs of PALIMPSEST.
The workshop also included a detailed demonstration of the platform’s technical features by Clio Beruete Concostrina from Politecnico de Madrid (UPM) and Dimitris Nevis from the Center for Research and Technology-Hellas (CERTH).
The session concluded with a fruitful discussion on the potential of DAFNE+ to support and enhance the value of Landscape Services within the framework of PALIMPSEST’s pilot projects.
